There is no Retreat

There is no Retreat

Retreat 2020In making his impassioned case for Virginians to join the Revolutionary War, Patrick Henry bellowed, “There is no retreat but in submission and slavery!” Fortunately, Liberty Common School’s cheerful situation is hardly dire as Henry’s, because we just concluded two enormously successful retreats. Another is planned for tomorrow.

High-school House leaders, over the recent three-day weekend, convened their annual two-day retreat just outside Rocky Mountain National Park. Our students really have this process dialed in. They annually perfect the school’s vision for a second-to-none student-life experience at Liberty, and they set multiple outstanding ideas to action.

As students wrapped up their sessions, the school’s entire K-12 administration convened its annual retreat literally across the street. We spent two isolated days discussing ways to refine strategies toward advancing the school’s mission.

Liberty’s parent-led Board of Directors is conducting a Strategic-Planning Session to align new opportunities and challenges with the school’s classical vision, mission, and timeless philosophy.

Indeed, our excellent school thrives forward by routinely validating its bearings, adapting as prudence dictates, and maintaining our sights on the true, the good, the beautiful, and the perfect. In that sense, Henry was spot on. There is no retreat in the holy cause of Liberty.
