BOD Update

Board of Directors Election. Liberty’s volunteer Board of Directors has two Director positions coming open with three-year terms commencing this June. Elections for these positions will be held the third week of April. Online applications are currently available.

Liberty Common School depends upon parent volunteer leadership. Liberty’s seven-member, parent volunteer Board of Directors is responsible for maintaining educational and operational policies which support the vision, philosophy, and mission as defined in Liberty’s Charter Application, Contract, Bylaws and Board Policies.

Are you passionate about supporting the mission and philosophy of Liberty Common School? Are you a critical thinker, interested in playing a vital role in ensuring Liberty’s continued academic and character education success? If so, your leadership could significantly benefit Liberty’s students.

Liberty’s Board of Directors would love to answer your questions regarding Board service. Please contact Board Director Chuck Grant, or any other Director.

The application deadline is 4PM, Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

Strategic Plan Update. Liberty’s Board of Directors works with the school administrators to develop strategic direction guiding the future of our great school. The Board of Directors encourages you to review the current Strategic Plan. The Board has sanctioned several committees which lead the actionable work supporting the Strategic Plan.

Following are a few highlights:

-Student-Data Privacy Committee is working through a roadmap supporting an ambitious strategic goal to “Lead the education industry in maintaining student-data privacy.”
-Development Committee is improving fundraising communications and marketing demonstrated by recent website and social media upgrades designed to enhancing fundraising effectiveness (The annual fundraising-letter campaign generated the highest response in school history – up 42%!).
-Expansion Committee is newly developed to investigate opportunities to capitalize on Liberty’s extensive strengths, and potentially serve more families.
-Other committees and volunteers are working to enhance Liberty’s local, state-wide and national leadership by building coalitions and relationships throughout our community. The Board is grateful for parent volunteers Ms. Molly Soasey and Ms. Lisa Willingham, who represent Liberty at PSD’s District Advisory Board, as well as Ms. Angela Hunsinger who attends PSD’s District Accountability Committee. Principals Mr. Casey Churchill and Mr. Torgun Lovely are actively leading efforts to connect classically oriented schools throughout the state as well.

Please make attendance at an upcoming board meeting a priority. Liberty is a parent-led school and attending a board meeting is a wonderful way for our families to learn about the leadership and direction of our excellent institution. Meetings occur the last Thursday of each month at Liberty Common High School.
