Math Day Competition 2019

MathletesLCHS students performed well at Colorado State University’s Math Day competition last month. Math scholars participated in a mathematics-poster fair, and attended an interesting lecture about the mathematics behind gerrymandering. Liberty’s A Team, consisting of Liberty students Kobe Douglas, Aimee Johnston, and Ryan Anderson, persevered through seven rounds of competition. Though defeated by the Windsor Charter’s A team in the first round, it went on to win in rounds 2 through 6 against Collegiate A, Regis Girls, New Vista A, Windsor Charter E, and Gering A before being taken out of the double-elimination competition on the seventh round by our sister school Ridgeview. Team A is pictured nearby. The LCHS B Team, consisting of Liberty students Grace McCormick, David Hill, Uriah Nevins, and Skyler Mayse powered through five grueling rounds. In rounds one and two, the B Team beat Revere, and Regis Girls. In round three, it was defeated by Windsor Charter’s C team. From there it beat Manitou in round four, and was taken out of the double-elimination competition in round five by the Steamboat team. Members of both teams are pictured atop this newsletter. Well fought Eagle Mathletes!
