Donovan JonesReporting recently from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, LCHS alumnus Donovan Jones, LCHS ’19 told his parents he’s well prepared for the initial rigors and academic challenges of one of the world’s top academic institutions.

The physically exhausting paces of “Plebe Summer” were tough, but Donovan came through with grace and poise. The orientation program officially turns civilians into midshipmen. Now trapesing the deck of one of America’s most celebrated institutions, Midshipman Jones is finding his academic background from LCHS is solid.

New coursework for other mates in his battalion are more often lesson reviews for Jones. The Honor Treatise of the Brigade of Midshipmen is a living, operational military expression and refinement of Liberty’s Foundation Stones, and Capstone Virtues.

Midshipmen arise at 5:30AM for personal fitness workouts. Reveille is at 6:30AM daily. The entire day is scripted entailing six 50-minute academic courses, meals, drills, sports, study periods, and Taps at midnight.

After four years at this tempo, Donovan will be commissioned an Ensign or 2nd Lt in the Profession of Arms as an officer of the world’s most lethal and respected naval fleet. Semper Fortis!
